About the Author
Dr. Vikki Hufnagel in the early 1980s was besieged by thousands of women asking for her help after they had been surgically castrated by a variety of routine gynecological surgical procedures (tubal ligation, oopherectomy, and hysterectomy). Her work in creating FRS - Female Reconstructive Surgery revolutionized gynecology giving women an option that allows women to conserve and repair their reproductive and sexual organs. Unlike traditional amputative and mutilative gynecological procedures FRS allowed the female to retain her normal hormonal functions. It also helped to return function to women who had partial surgical castration.
Women suffering castration turned to Dr. Hufnagel to help them with the complications of menopause. Dr. Hufnagel developed Natural Hormone Replacement Therapy to address the needs of these women. Many of these patients could not tolerate traditional hormone treatment while having severe hot flashes and other life altering complications of menopause. Creating Natural Hormone Replacement Therapy Dr. Hufnagel received national media attention for this contribution to womens health care. Women who suffered from aging menopause learned about NHRT and began to seek it as an alternative to traditional hormone therapy.
Women began to fly from all over the world to get their hormones tested and receive treatment with NHRT. Dr. Hufnagel defined and was also able to delineated new hormonal deficiency states, which were not successfully treated by traditional hormonal therapy.
Dr. Hufnagel studied pharmacology as a medical student, resident and in private practice. She attended a course in compounding and in the 1980s and began to formulate NATURAL HORMONES for women. Dr. Hufnagel began creating a tri estrogen formula. In 1983 she then formulated NCH -Natural Cyclic Hormones for women who could not tolerate traditional hormones or wanted the benefits of natural hormones and did not want to use synthetic hormones. Dr. Hufnagel since the early 1980s has provided NCH as a safe and affective means to treat existing menopause and to prevent its natural aging course in women not yet menopausal. The cyclic manner for providing hormones is unique and differs from all existing hormonal treatment programs. NCH is currently the most like a womans normal menstrual cycle existing today. NCH is copyrighted and trademarked. Patents are in development for a number of formulas created by Dr. Hufnagel.
The Chinese government officials requested Dr. Hufnagels help in creating a hormonal program for the women of China when she was part of the UN delegation and an Eisenhower ambassador to China at the International Womans meeting held In Beijing in 1995.
Dr. Hufnagel is considered the leading expert on natural hormones for women and is acknowledged as creating NCH formulas and protocols for women. She has also created over 200 formulas for womens health care needs including supplements for the treatment of uterine fibroids and endometrioses.
ADVOCATE FOR WOMEN

She worked on the original breast surgery mandate with Senator Maxine Waters. This law assured that women had options to radical mastectomy and were educated on risks and benefits of various treatments.
Dr. Hufnagel wrote the nations first informed consent laws for hysterectomy, which are now mandated in California, New York and Texas. She is the only physician in the nation to have written laws to protect women. She attended law school to increase her expertise in remedial legal issues.
The NATIONAL ORGANIZATION OF WOMEN (NOW) in 1996 voted to support her work in womens health care by resolution at NOWs annual meeting (LAS VEGAS, Nevada).
The press and media look to Dr. Hufnagel and have labeled her the Ralph Nader of womens medicine for her expose of medical abuses throughout her career. Fox Cable News, Gina Kolta (NYT), Elizabeth Rosenthal (NYT), Natalie ANgeria (NYT), MSNBC, NBC, and Oprah are a few of the media who have used Dr. Hufnagel as a news source and collaborator.
